Understanding Compassionate Inquiry

Compassionate Inquiry is a psychotherapeutic approach developed by Dr Gabor Maté that integrates talk therapy and somatic awareness. It uncovers emotional pain stored within the body, guiding you to recognise the unconscious dynamic that run beneath your reactions. By understanding the body states that form your emotional patterns, you begin to access deeper levels of consciousness.

How I Supports Your Healing Journey

Your journey through Compassionate Inquiry with me at Blissful Healing is one of empathy, curiosity, and deep personal exploration. Compassionate Inquiry is not just about me being compassionate to you as a client; it's about helping you find compassion for yourself.

My purpose is to gently guide you to understand and appreciate parts of yourself that have long been misunderstood or dismissed. You'll begin to see behaviours, such as perfectionism or people-pleasing, not as flaws but as protective mechanisms from your past. This compassionate understanding becomes your foundation for lasting transformation and allows you to start letting go of the hold these patterns have on you.

What to Expect from a Compassionate Inquiry Session

At Blissful Healing, your Compassionate Inquiry session begins by creating a safe and trusting environment. As your therapist, I always prepare clients by saying, "This is your place; whatever happens here stays here unless there's a risk of harm."

Each session flows naturally, starting with questions that seem simple yet powerfully connect with your body's wisdom. I often ask, "What's happening in your body right now?" Even subtle shifts—like looking away or changing tone—can lead to significant insights.

I remain fully present, noticing the slightest cues: a sigh, a posture shift, or even a sudden physical sensation like ringing ears.

This attentive curiosity helps uncover forgotten memories or deeply hidden beliefs, connecting present patterns with early life experiences.

Sessions often evoke emotions and bodily sensations that, once acknowledged and explored, release their hold, offering relief and clarity. Sometimes clients don't even remember a trauma until it surfaces in the session.

Together, we explore the story you're telling yourself unconsciously, gently identifying what story you're carrying and understanding how you hold those stories within.
